On May 17, 2026, West Marine filed for voluntary Chapter 11 protection in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court to pursue a comprehensive restructuring transaction that will position the Company for long-term success. West Marine is operating as usual – in stores, online, and across all our channels. This announcement will not heavily impact our inventory availability–our shelves will continue to be full of the marine gear and products you need to get out on the water.
Chapter 11 is a common legal process for businesses to reorganize and address financial challenges while maintaining normal operations and upholding obligations to stakeholders. Many well-known and beloved retailers have used the Chapter 11 process to reorganize their operations and emerge even stronger than before.
Throughout the Chapter 11 case, we are at times required to distribute legal documents and notices. Importantly, these notices and this process do not change anything about the service and products you receive from West Marine.
